Sunday Chill out

What is it with Sundays and me. I either hate them or love them. I seem to go into overdrive, dusting like a maniac and screaming because mud has been traipsed through the house. I have two sons who spend their Sundays playing football and rugby, and believe you me, mud gets into some pretty weird places.

At the moment I am sat here and my youngest son wants a bacon butty, I tell him to get on and make it. He stares at me with a glazed look about him. Duh!! This is the boy who would get an A* in Habbo (computer game) but cannot even switch the grill on. It is time to teach him the basics for cooking. I do not want him being one of those men who relies on women for everything.

I started a ceramics course this week, I made a coaster and three love hearts. I love getting down and dirty with a lump of clay. I will show you my creations later on in the month.

I have spent a small fortune on beads this month, apparently stars are all the trend this year. I wonder if it has something to do with that Professor on TV, you know the "Star gazing" one. I must say star gazing does not do it for me. Anyway, stars, yes I will be creating some masterpieces very soon, using my star beads I have just purchased. I am always on the look out for new bead shops, so if anyone knows of any good ones, with quirky beads, let me know.

Anyway, must get on and start my roast......so to keep you amused here is a picture of my son who has just made his first bacon butty, wearing his 3Dglasses. Aww bless

January blues

January is a strange month for me, I always make a conscious decision to not make a lot of jewellery, as I am sure you realise, we all need a break from the job.

Instead I procrastinate ( a lot) shop, meet up with friends and try to partake with other craft activities.

This year I have decided to join a ceramics club, we shall be making lots of lovely trinkets including a teapot and jewellery. Watch this blog for photos of my masterpieces!!

Shopping is my other favourite past-time. I did over indulge in this activity last Saturday. LK Bennett is I know, a favourite shop for Kate Middleton (Duchess Kate). On entering I was drawn to their lovely Italian leather boots.

So, what happens? I try a pair on in tan, with a lovely buckle. Oh yes they are the most adorable boots ever. So the credit card got a bit of a bashing. www.lkbennet.com

I also decided to try my luck in Phase Eight, where I came across a cable knit swing dress, half price. In a lovely indigo blue. Kerching. www.Phaseeight.co.uk

So today, I am going to christen my two new purchases, with a trip to a lunch date with my friend.

Alice in Wonderland range is here

Alice in Wonderland has arrived at Jana Jewellery.

The vintage look is very on trend this season, especially the 1940's. I have gone for a vintage feel with some of my jewellery, using antique gold findings.

I have used a variety of Alice in Wonderland pictures to make clock faces. Vintage buttons have also been added. I am very pleased with the look.

I have also gone for a more modern look by using some silver plated chain with vintage buttons and pearls.

Worcester Victorian Xmas Fayre

I am very excited, I have just been accepted to have a stall at the Worcester Victorian Xmas Fayre on Thursday 1st December until Sunday 4th December.

This is held annually and has around 100,000 people attending.

I am now frantically making lots of stock ready for all those Christmas shoppers.

There will be a great deal of the button range on sale, also charm bracelets will be another contender on the Jana Jewellery stall.

I also have a lovely Swarovsky range for all those ladies who love to wear a bit of bling.

So pass on the news, and get saving for the Xmas Shopping Bonanza of the year!!

Cheltenham Arts and Craft Market this coming Saturday. The Promenade Cheltenham.

If you are looking for a different Easter present, instead of chocolate, then come along to our stall. The bags are making their debut and I also have some wonderful polka dot button bracelets.

I also have a range of beautiful necklaces which have been wire wrapped and then covered in pretty organza ribbon.

I know I post on here about my craft, however I have never really talked about who I am.

I am Jane Akester, mother to 2 sons, Sam and Chris and wife to Rob of 16 years. We have a black labrador, called Pip, she is the most docile dog ever, she never barks. Not a good guard dog!!

We live a good life in Gloucester, England. My husband works as an Independant financial advisor. He works from home too, so we see a great deal of each other.

I used to be a midwife, however I decided to give this profession up 3 years ago, due to ill health. Jewellery making became a hobby.

Well, the rest is history, I am still making jewellery and now it is a fully fledged business. I absolutely love my job. I get to buy lots of beads, my work-station is facing my garden and I can work for as long or as little as possible each day. I can take as many coffee breaks as I wish and even go out for lunch with Rob on the odd occasion.

I am currently exhibiting my jewellery at two Arts and Craft Markets a month in Gloucester and Cheltenham. I am hoping to also get the chance to exhibit my handbags at Bristol Nails Market.

In my spare time, I go to the gym and do Zumba classes and spin classes. I have also been dieting for the past 6 months and have lost two stone.....its great to get back into a size 12 again!!

My one weakness in life is wine, a good cold glass of Chardonnay cheers me up no end. I have tried giving it up for lent, but it just aint happening!!

I love a good book and I love a good cackle with my friends.
